Here at 1st Call Technical, we love a challenge. Discovering how things work and how they go together is what gets us out of bed in the morning. Established in 2012, founder and veteran Ron Olson saw an opportunity to bring his 25+ years of construction and technical experience to a cutting-edge process that is breaking new ground across multiple industries, from science and transportation to energy and environment.
Lidar allows us to map and measure everything, be it a building site, a bridge, or a 100-acre forest. Our 3D renderings are detailed and ultraprecise, giving AEC professionals the means to get ahead in an increasingly competitive industry. With Ron at the helm, supported by his wife and vice president Heather Powell-Olson, 1st Call Technical is one of just a handful of companies in North America with the knowledge and expertise necessary to operate the latest 3D technology with accuracy and precision—any time, anywhere.
Meet the team
Ron Olson
Founder & President
Ron is the founder and president of 1st Call Technical, overseeing all aspects of strategic planning and operations. An expert in lidar mapping and its many applications, Ron has spent his career managing multi-million dollar projects across a broad spectrum of fields, including civil construction, transport, energy and environment, working with some of the biggest contractors and companies in the business.
Ron served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army for six years; as such, he isn’t shy about accepting responsibility, performing oversight, or inspecting other people’s work where required.
Heather Powell-Olson
Vice President
Heather is the vice president of 1st Call Technical, working alongside Ron to manage the running of the business. With over 25 years of experience in the engineering and consulting world, Heather has a strong track record in managing client relationships, not to mention a string of diverse qualifications, including a BSc in Marine Biology, a BA in Psychology, and a two-year Technical Degree in Terrain and Water.
